OUR Story
House of fellowship

The House of Fellowship Church has served the Bread Springs area, 11 miles south of Gallup, NM on the Navajo Nation for over twenty years. According to the Navajo Nation 2010 census, more than one-third of the Navajo Nation is considered “severely poor, “ and this phenomenon is certainly true among the families served by the House of Fellowship. The Navajo pastors of the House of Fellowship are natives of the area and know the community well. Since the inception of the House of Fellowship, they have helped their neighbors in countless ways: Christian guidance, home repair, home construction, wood delivery, counseling, mentoring, prayer and advocacy. Over the years various outside partners have been inspired by the amount and kind of services done by this small group of mighty Navajo believers. Many have been invited to join them in their mission. Groups from Gallup, California, Korea, Florida and Los Alamos have worked with the House of Fellowship on self-help projects. The House of Fellowhip members have always used a self-help model of service. They work side-by- side with families needing assistance and teach them both the life skills and the job skills needed to be independent and productive in their own Navajo culture as well the wider culture.
Nihitaa Binaanish (Our Father’s Business) was formed in 2015 and is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that supports and raises funds for the work that the House of Fellowship does and has been doing quietly and humbly for the last ten years. Its intent is to administer projects where Navajo Christian neighbors walk side-by- side with those in need, listening to them, teaching them needed skills, building relationships and modeling the love of Jesus Christ in a Navajo context. Church attendance or Christian identity is not a criteria for any services.
